About me.
I am an insider. I
work as a Transportation Security Officer (TSO) at Dulles
International Airport (IAD). I am self-employed
and work part time for the TSA, mainly for the medical and
dental insurance benefits. I also fly frequently. I think that
helps me see things both from the TSA and passenger
perspectives.
I am not going to tell you anything that will
compromise passenger screening procedures or sensitive TSA
information. Instead, I am going to focus on the things that
you need to do to move through the screening process as
efficiently as possible. Ideally, if you follow my advice, no
one from the TSA will need to touch you or your belongings.
Some of the rules and procedures may seem strange but there is
almost always a good rationale behind them. The problem is
that that TSA is frequently reluctant to tell you the reason
because they don’t want to be contributing to the training of
the bad guys.
